Hospital San Antonio

By: Billy and Akaisha Kaderli

Medical care at Lakeside has been improving steadily for decades now. Clinics are ubiquitous, and there are a few new hospitals dotting the Lake area.

A brand new hospital has opened up in the Lakeside town of San Antonio Tlayacapan, just 4 kilometers from Chapala.

I was recently given a tour.

I hope you find the information below to be useful to you.

Entrance to Hospital San Antonio

I met with Ana Comacho early one morning, and gathered up all the hospital brochures and the medical doctors’ business cards.

Combing through the literature, I saw happy, smiling doctors promising timely medical care with medical excellence and human sense.

The  hospital also wanted to offer pricing that is attractive to the locals and to those international visitors who live here and those who come for Medical Tourism treatment.

Hey, that sounded pretty good.

Parking area and medical businesses that work with the hospital

Also on the printed information was a list of services this hospital offered.

They have 24/7 care available, they treat respiratory allergies, and they have angiology and cardiology departments. Of course they do general surgery, but they also do spine surgery, Maxillofacial surgery, and Plastic surgery.

The list went on: Gastroenterology, Gynecology, Internal medicine, Nephrology, Neurology, Ophthalmology, Oncology, Otolaryngology, Rheumatology, Urology, Traumatology and Orthopedics.

There are a number of doctor’s offices located either in the hospital or here at the compound. There is also a Laboratory, Operating rooms, ER services 24/7, Imaging unit, Hemodialysis unit and an ICU unit.

A Blood bank and a Hemodynamic unit were both coming soon.

As you can see here in the photo, Quality Care which is a group of doctor’s offices and Guadalajara Farmacia are also located in the compound.

With a list like this, it’s easy to believe there will be a solid future for this hospital.

Hopefully patients won’t have to travel to crowded, traffic-tied Guadalajara, the capital of Jalisco, thereby saving much time.

Waiting room area

The waiting room was spacious and airy. The check-in desk is to the right, outside the photo.

A Podiatrist, and a Dermatologist are also located in the compound.

Inside the hospital is a restaurant and coffee shop open for visitors of patients there as well as for anyone who cares to come from outside who would like to have a meal.

There is also a Chapel available.

Contact information for the Hospital, as well as names of Doctors working here at the Hospital are listed below.

Private hospital room

Hospital San Antonio offers 9 hospital beds, 5 of them with this view, and 4 with private terraces.

Antonia is the head nurse should you need anything, and the hospital tries to have someone who speaks English on staff at all times.

The couch and reclining chair are for family members who wish to stay with the patient overnight. It is very common in Latin countries to have family stay the evening to comfort their loved one.

They also offer an MRI, X-ray, Mammography, Ultrasound, and CT Scan, Colonoscopy and endoscopy services
